Horror Movies of Asia's Journal
Tuesday, May 31, 2011
Hello! I posted a while back about the horror blog dailyhorrordose (which introduces readers to something horror-related every day, be it movies, books, games, anime, comics, or whatever). We recently lost two writers right around the same time, so we're in rather desperate need of some more writers to help us out! If you're interested, please check out the blog to see what we do and then head on over to the Sign-Up Post. Thanks!

I just found this comm and have to say that I am so happy to have it on my flist now. I don't have enough online friends who enjoy Asian horror, so this is nice.
I don't know if I can post this here, but figured I would because they're Asian horror caps and provide for nice resources for stuff. And if you guys wouldn't appreciate them, who would? :)

3:00AM - New Horror Blog
Hello! Just wanted to invite everyone to check out a new horror blog: dailyhorrordose, where every single day we introduce you to something horrifyingly awesome, be it a movie, book, comic, tv show, game, anime, website, folklore, or just a frightening little piece of history. We're also looking for more contributors (especially in need of people knowledgeable of books, short stories, folklore, and online horror hotspots!).

2:30AM - NOROI: THE CURSE
Just thought I'd share a gem I found: Noroi: The Curse. A recent release, the film is shot in the same style as The Blair Witch Project, being a mockumentary. Critically appraised for its surprisingly deep and complex plot, excellent acting with a cast of over 25 characters, and its unusual length for a horror film (two hours), it was highly successful in Japan and a genuinely frightening film. For those who specialize in the J-horror genre, it is worth watching for its departure from the usual J-horror elements and its fresh take on what is considered scare.
Noroi is available to watch online in several places, but I found it split into 11 parts on Youtube for those who don't feel like searching. I would highly recommend it.
For those who've seen it, what did you think? :)

A while ago I watched the movie Midori ( www.asian-horror-movies.com/mid.php ) and...well, honestly it was truly one of the most disturbing things I have ever watched. And things don't bother me, I can watch anything and be fine. But this...it just freaked me out. Afterward I could barely sleep and would start thinking about it and just started shaking/freaking. While I'm sure that since no one really knows me on here (this is my first post) that things don't bother me. But they really don't. Yet this movie just...ugh. Couldn't take it. So, I was wondering if anyone else had seen it, and what they thought? I also partly think it the animation and how it was done. It just made it feel eerie. So...opinions? Am I alone in my freaked out ness?

8:02PM - Uzumaki
I watched this film last night and liked it very much. It's about a town cursed with an obsession with spirals (such as on snails, food, and finger prints). The people eventually develop snail like features.

1:41AM - Someone behind you
Just finished watching the film Someone behind you.
I understood most of it and what was going on but I definitely didn't understand the film.
Or who mystery boy was? Was there actually a curse? Why did Ga-in end up doing what she did?
Was her boyfriend seriously seeking revenge?
